Heart Behind the Badge was founded with a simple mission: to support and uplift law enforcement officers, their families, and the communities they serve.
We recognize the sacrifices made by those who wear the badge and the loved ones who stand beside them. Through appreciation programs, family-focused events, and community outreach, we strive to create meaningful connections and remind officers and their families that they are valued, supported, and never alone.
Our organization is built on the belief that when we care for the people behind the badge, we strengthen the entire community.
How We Provide Support
Law enforcement is more than a career—it is a lifestyle that impacts entire families. Long hours, shift work, missed holidays, critical incidents, and the daily stress of the profession can place unique challenges on officers and their loved ones. We understand the immense pride that comes with loving someone in law enforcement, but we also recognize the worry, uncertainty, and anxiety that can accompany every shift, every call, and every day of service. Heart Behind the Badge exists to ensure that no law enforcement family feels alone during life's most difficult moments.
Our mission is to provide meaningful support, valuable resources, and a compassionate community that helps ease those burdens. No matter your role in an officer's life, you are part of the law enforcement family—and you never have to walk this journey alone.
When Life Happens
We help families navigate unexpected challenges by providing practical support like meal trains, grocery gift cards, house cleanings and other needs. We try to foster connections with other law enforcement families, and community resources when they need them most.
Show Appreciation
Law Enforcement Appreciation Day is January 20th each year. We make baskets full of on the go snacks, treats and drinks for over 3,000 sworn law enforcement officers and 1,000 support staff to show how much we appreciate their hard work and sacrifice.
We are always looking for businesses that would like to partner with us to help provide snacks, energy drinks, sports drink and treats to shower those who serve the community how much they mean.
Supporting the Whole Family
We believe that when an officer serves, the entire family serves alongside them. That's why our support extends beyond the officer to embrace their entire support system—including spouses, children, parents, siblings, and loved ones. Every family member carries the heart of the officer in their own unique way.

Build a Support Network
We help bridge the gap between need and support.
When an officer or family experiences a difficult season, it can feel overwhelming to know where to turn. Heart Behind the Badge works to connect families with resources, community partners, and fellow law enforcement families so they never feel like they have to face challenges alone. We have a private group on Facebook that helps to foster these connections.
Making Holidays Special
We create joy and lasting memories at our Treats with Santa event for law enforcement families. This helps ensure children don't feel left out because of the demands of the profession​. The kids get to tell Santa what they want for Christmas, take a family photo with Santa, enjoy donuts and hot cocoa while making a Christmas keepsake!
Community Partnership
With our continued partnership with the Sacramento County Deputy Sheriff's Association and the Law Enforcement Chaplaincy-Sacramento, we are made aware of officer/family needs where we can come along side other resources to provide needed assistance.
